Overview
The Senior Director, Digital Technology is responsible for developing, implementing, and oversight of all digital technology initiatives within PPL that meet customer needs and maximizing the return on product investments. This role focuses on driving digital transformation to improve operational efficiency, customer and colleague experience, and innovation in the energy/utilities space. The individual will be responsible for establishing a digital technology roadmap aligned with company objectives, ensuring successful deployment of new technologies, and enhancing cybersecurity and data governance within the organization. This role leads and guides cross-functional teams, facilitates Agile teams through various stages, and serves as a coach and mentor. This role also supports the Product Owner and Product Manager in defining vision, roadmaps, and planning. LI-Hybrid
NOTE : This position is hybrid to one of our local offices in: Allentown, PA; Louisville, KY or Providence, RI.
Responsibilities
Guide cross-functional teams in the implementation of applicable tools and practices that contribute to maximizing value
Facilitate initiatives and Agile teams through Inception, Execution, and Transition against delivery lifecycles
Serve as a coach and mentor for Agile teams within the Enterprise portfolio
Support larger initiatives through scaling and execution of scaled Agile frameworks
Inspire others to adopt new processes and improvements based on lessons learned across the portfolio
Assist Agile team in understanding the value of automation and recommend process efficiency improvements (DevOps)
Aligns technology architecture with business strategy
Provides strategic technical direction across Agile Release Trains (ARTs) and teams
Collaborates with Lean Portfolio Management
Guides and supports Architectural Runway strategy
Promotes modern technical and DevOps practices
Synchronizes architecture functions across ARTs and teams
Define and implement a digital technology strategy that aligns with the company’s business goals and supports future growth
Lead digital transformation initiatives across businesses to modernize legacy systems, optimize processes, and enhance operational efficiencies
Collaborate with senior executives to prioritize digital initiatives and leverage technology to achieve sustainability, efficiency, and customer satisfaction goals
Develop and oversee a multi-year digital roadmap, incorporating emerging technologies like Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, machine learning, predictive analytics, and smart grid technology
Identify and evaluate new technology trends and digital opportunities that drive innovation and differentiation in the utility industry
Qualifications
Education or Equivalent Experience
- Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field; Master’s degree preferred but not required or equivalent professional experience. We value a combination of education, skills, and practical experience, and encourage applicants with a proven track record in Technology to apply, regardless of formal educational background.
Experience
15+ years of experience in technology roles, with a significant portion focused on digital technologies
Demonstrated experience in senior leadership roles such as Director of Digital Technology, VP of Customer Experience Technology, or similar
Experience managing large, diverse teams and leading complex projects
Proven ability to develop and execute technology strategies that enhance customer engagement and drive business growth
Understanding of Agile principles and methods
Strong communication and collaboration skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Ability to adapt to new technologies and methodologies
Ability to align IT transformation initiatives with the overall business strategy
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree or relevant certifications (eg, PMP, Agile, Scrum) would be a plus
Utilities industry experience
