Overview
This position is responsible for providing engineering services and support for transmission line design, construction, and maintenance.
The position will be filled based on the candidates experience and education level.
Responsibilities
Provide engineering support for all phases of transmission line projects: including planning, design, construction, and maintenance.
Provides planning, engineering, and construction estimates to support the transmission plan.
Builds and analyzes 3D computer models of transmission line structures and wires using finite element analysis.
Develops, designs, and details wood and steel transmission structures.
Determines loads and analyzes capacity of wood and steel structures.
Engineering analysis of clearances to comply with company standards and the National Electric Safety Code (NESC)
Develops specifications and requirements for geotechnical explorations.
Performs foundation design for transmission structures under supervision.
Preparation of construction documents, including plan and profile and detail sheets.
Development of wire sagging charts and computations.
Field work includes: surveying, construction inspections of foundations and structure installations, and wire sagging.
Provide inputs for engineering activities to support development of project schedules.
Work with budget analyst to provide monthly cash flows for project assignments.
All other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Education Requirement (position will be based on selected candidates experience and education level)
Engineer I
ABET Accredited Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is required.
Engineer II
ABET Accredited Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and a minimum of 2 years of experience is required.
Engineer III
ABET Accredited Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and a minimum of 5 years of experience is required.
Principal Engineer
ABET Accredited Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and a minimum of 10 years of experience is required.
Preferred Qualifications
PLS-CADD experience is preferred
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Proficient with spreadsheet applications and engineering software programs
Analytical skills
Project management skills
Knowledgeable of structural and geotechnical engineering design principles
Surveying skills
