Overview

Decisions are guided by policies, procedures and business plan. This position receives guidance and oversight from manager. Typically, does not perform the work being supervised.

Responsible to oversee highly skilled construction, installation, modification and repair of electrical facilities used in anelectric utility in a safe, productive manner with high quality by supervising personnel in the electrical trades requiring initiative and sound judgement at all regional electrical facilities. Provides timely, cost effective and reliable service to customers internal and external to the Corporation.

Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for the completion of capital and O&M work within the regions and outside business arenas for all electrical equipment used in an electric utility.

  2. Responsible for timely response to storm restoration efforts in the region, including round-the-clock responsibility03/ as a Work Location Supervisor to respond and lead crew efforts in restoring PPL facilities to normal operation.

  3. Work directly with field and G.O. designers in developing a mutually agreeable design that can be built within the approved hours.

  4. Responsible for the application of safe work practices on the job in compliance with the Company’s safety rules and develop a safety awareness on the part of subordinates.

  5. Responsible for the development of employees by leading, training, motivating, coaching and counseling employees to satisfy the expectations of their positions.

  6. Responsible for cost control through the effective and efficient application of personnel, equipment & materials to provide customer/client satisfaction and to ensure job quality and reliability.

  7. Responsible for training and enforcement of the Company’s Safety Rules and Policies, local work procedures, environmental procedures, and always follows the energy control process.

  8. Responsible for the coordination & scheduling of equipment outages and switching to ensure safety working environments thru constant communication with System Operating, Power Dispatchers. Transmission Control Center and Work Management.

  9. Assures the timely completion of all administrative processes such as annual reviews, enforcement of the Labor Agreement, Time & Labor, tailboard documentation, progress reporting, etc.

  10. Reviews and communicates with responsible engineering personnel to complete pre-job planning, monitor progress, resolve in progress problems, and identify revisions to scope and obtains necessary approvals.

  11. May be assigned an Electric Utilities emergency and storm role. This is a special assignment that comes into play during storms and other emergencies when the company needs to restore power or respond to other issues affecting customer service. This role may necessitate the need to work after-hours, outside of your normal schedule.

  12. The company reserves the right to determine if this position will be assigned to work on-site, remotely, or a combination of both. Assigned work location may change. In the case of remote work, physical presence in the office/on-site may be required to engage in face-to-face interaction and coordination of work among direct reports and co-workers.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  1. 5 years’ experience in electrical or mechanical operations and maintenance.

  2. Demonstrated expertise/knowledge of energized and deenergized facilities; switching and tagging procedures; knowledge of training, clearances and working space requirements.

  3. A valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's Degree

  2. 3-5 years’ experience as a journeyman in the linesman trade or 10 years’ experience in the transmission and distribution line facilities.

  3. Basic electric theory, identify and analyze trouble in electrical circuits, print reading and moderate computer skills used in the linemen trade and office applications software.

  4. Thorough knowledge of safety rules/regulations, energy control process, company policies, work practices and the labor agreement.

  5. Supervisory experience with leadership and teamwork skills, communication skills both oral and written.

  6. Possess valid Pennsylvania Commercial Driver’s License.
