Strategic Communications Mgr

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Managethedevelopment,planning,implementation and delivery of customer communications as part of a strategic and integrated program that enhances the company reputation, customer engagementandenablesattainmentofcompanygoals.

  • Partner with Customer Services management team to ensure successful implementation of customer communications and marketing strategies and programs to help ensure customer awareness of the company’s business, services and programs.

  • Work across functions to embed innovation, customer, energy efficiency and commercial success stories in broader communications campaigns and initiatives. Analyze and measure results and make adjustments in strategy and execution as appropriate.

  • Support the development, maintenance and delivery of customer digital communications and social media strategy across electronic and online media platforms;

  • Developeffective customer messagingbasedonathoroughunderstandingofbusinessoperationsandgoals,andconsistentlyusethismessagingacrossallplatformstoadvancetheinterestofthecompany.

  • Managerelationshipswiththenewsmediaandperformexcellentmediarelationsactivitiestominimizetheimpactofnegativenewsandenhancetheimpactofpositivenews.Serveasaspokesperson on customer issues.

  • Drive the development of content customer communications plans and calendar. Managespecificprojects,closelycollaboratingwithothersthroughoutthecompany,toeffectivelydelivercommunicationsontimeandonbudget.

  • Collaborate, buildandmaintainproductive and constructive relationships withseniorexecutives, Customer Services management team,colleagues and employees to improve customer and marketing communications on behalf of the company.

  • Provide support to the Customer Services Vice President on internal communications within the Customer Services organization.

  • Excellent content creation and writing skills--fastandaccurate--andbeabletoapplythese skillstoeverymediumweuse,includingpublications,Intranet,Internet,advertising,socialmediaandothers.Haveexcellentpresentationskills,andbeabletopersuade,and to constructively disagree,whennecessary,toadvancethecompany'spublicrelationsinterests.Bepreparedtoproveyourwritingandcommunicationsplanningskillsinapre-employmenttest.

  • Continually evaluate processes and strategies to optimize the effectiveness and efficiency of communication programs and tools.

  • Serveontheemergencyon-callrotation andbepreparedtomanageandsupportcrisiscommunicationsactivities.

Position Summary:

Responsible for the development, maintenance and delivery of customer communications strategies and initiatives that help the company meet its business goals, advance customer experience, and enhance the company's brand and reputation. Successful implementation of these responsibilities will result in sustained and significantly improved customer and marketing communications and engagement, brand promotion, customer digital engagement, and reputation management for PPL Electric Utilities. In collaboration with the EU Communications and Customer Services teams, help to shape the thinking for PPL Electric Utilities senior leaders through data, trends and deep understanding of the changing business landscape.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor'sdegreein marketing, brand management, journalism,communications,orrelevantfield

  • Minimum five years' experience in customer communications, marketing communications, public relations or corporate communications in a corporate or agency setting

  • Ability to influence, make recommendations and drive change at all levels of the company

  • Advanced proficiency in personal computing skills

  • Fluency with social, mobile, content marketing, and digital media practices

  • Demonstratedleadershipskills

  • Abilityto collaborate and workeffectivelyaspartofateam;astrongfocusonconstructivecultureandappropriatebehaviors

  • Demonstrate strategic capability of core storytelling digital communications experience skills including outstanding writing ability

  • Excellentinterpersonalandoralcommunicationsskills

  • Ability to motivate and work effectively with diverse, cross-functional teams, multiple levels (including executive level) and outside vendors

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in journalism, communications, or relevant field

  • Demonstrated ability to innovate & develop new ideas through collaboration and execute on creative ideas

  • At least five years' work experience in the electric power industry or related, highly regulated industry

  • 10+ years' experience in electric utility or related utility communications

  • Experience in digital communications, positioning, messaging and storytelling

  • Leadership experience
